What Is It?

Tire Flip is the power event of Field Day Challenge. Teams flip a heavy tire across a set distance as fast as possible, relay style. Each team member flips the tire a set number of times before passing to the next.

This is a full-body test — legs, back, arms, and core all engaged at the same time. It's the most physically demanding single activity at FDC, and the team that finishes with the fastest combined time takes home maximum points.

⚠️ Safety First

⚠️
IMPORTANT — Read Before Competing Tire Flip requires proper lifting form to avoid injury. FDC staff will demonstrate correct technique before the event begins. Players with back, knee, or shoulder concerns should notify a teacher supervisor before participating. Never lift with a rounded back — always squat, grip, and drive with your legs.

The Three Phases of a Perfect Flip

⬇️
The Setup
Squat low. Fingers grip under the tire's bottom edge. Back straight. Eyes forward.
💥
The Drive
Explode through your legs. Push the tire upward as you rise. Transition grip to a push as it tips.
The Finish
Push the tire fully over until it lands flat. Step aside — tag your next teammate.

Rules

RULE 01
Each team member must flip the tire their designated number of times before tagging in the next player.
RULE 02
The tire must be fully flipped flat before the count advances. Partial flips do not count.
RULE 03
Only the active player may touch the tire. No assists from waiting teammates.
RULE 04
Proper lifting form required. FDC officials may pause for safety if form is dangerously incorrect.
RULE 05
Fastest complete team time wins the event. Time stops when the last member's final flip lands.
RULE 06
Safety disqualification overrides competition — player wellness comes before points.

Strategy & Tips

🦵
Legs first, always. The teams that lose are the ones trying to muscle the tire with their arms. Every flip starts and ends with leg drive.
Don't pause between flips. Get in position immediately after each flip lands. Every second spent walking to the tire is a second added to your time.
📋
Put your strongest players strategically. Opening player sets the pace. Closing player needs stamina to push hard when tired. Plan your order intentionally.
🤜
Explosive, not slow and steady. Short bursts of maximum force flip the tire faster than slow sustained pressure. Be explosive every single rep.
